Job Description
  • Coach and mentor the Construction Management staff within area of supervision.
  • Participate & conduct annual Performance Management reviews for the Superintendents and/or General Superintendents within area of responsibility.
  • Monitor and manage the Construction employee’s lifecycle as per Human Resources process and procedures involving: training, succession planning, transfers, promotions and salary increases of the Construction Management team (Superintendents and General Foremen).
  • Align Construction crews with adequate supervision, and provide daily work instructions to direct reports.
  • Coordinate Manpower movement within area of command and across multiple crafts.
  • Ensure all internal Flint processes and/or Client Business Processes are communicated and followed by the appropriate level of supervision.
  • Promote and adhere to Flint’s Safety Management System.
  • Ensure employees are following all predetermined divisional processes and procedures set forth by the Construction and Planning teams. Ensure all deficiencies are remediated.
  • Work with the Superintendents to review and prepare a needs assessment of equipment and materials. Work with Superintendent in the appropriate discipline to requisition required items.
  • Read and interpret drawings and blueprints to determine construction plans. Identify and rectify any issues or questions pertaining to the documents.
  • Monitor construction progress and performance. Adjust construction schedule accordingly.
  • Monitor the Efficiency Tracking Log report and create Trend Alerts or Change Orders as required. Any ‘out of scope’ work will need to be addressed and a best course of action determined in order to complete the scope. Provide recommendations to the Senior Construction Manager or Project Director.
  • Provide Construction expertise into the Construction Execution Plan (develop) from Front End Planning through Construction Execution and Mechanical Completion.
  • Work with Senior Construction Manager and/or Project Director on contracting strategy and scope of work definition.
  • Evaluate/solve constructability and planning issues.
  • Responsible for execution of Work Face Planning process (Dynamic Planning).
  • Organize set up of site facilities.
  • Plan, organize and directs the activities with area superintendents.
  • Helps implement, develop and insure the safety program is followed on site.
  • Participate on Work Face Planning attests within area of command.
  • Ensures personnel are working on Field Installation Work Packages as per the main Project Schedule.
  • Prioritize the key construction activities leading into turnover.
  • Work corrective actions with Client and Engineering to address any actions resulting from punch lists.
  • Finalize plans for demobilization.
  • Work with Sr. Construction Manager or Project Director to access any commissioning requirements.
  • Execute demobilization plans.
  • Prepare progress survey and reporting to Senior Management and Project Management detailing current project status.
  • Ensure proper progressing from area of command is relayed to Project Controls.
  • Attend meetings with the client as directed by the Senior Construction Manager or Project Director.
  • Act as a lead for weekly site safety meetings or daily tool box talks with crews.
  • Lead daily planning meetings with Superintendents, Construction Planner and Discipline Planners to ensure the plan is on target.
  • Works with Superintendents to ensure recovery plans are put in place to attain Schedule.
  • Participates in daily toolbox meetings with the Direct Field Labour (rotating through the different disciplines.)
  • Approve and submit any invoice/timesheets which have business unit expenditures to the appropriate project.
  • Complete and submit any monthly summaries to the appropriate departments. (e.g. P-card summaries, expense reports, etc)
  • Prepare and ensure all documentation is completed for any new hire and termination of staff, including any Requisitions to Hire, Record of Employments or Separation forms.
  • Provide approval on Flint Documentation as per the Authority Matrix.
  • Review and sign off on Task Hazard Analysis forms as submitted by the Foremen.
  • Ensure Performance Measurement Process forms are submitted to Human Resources.
  • Ensure daily progress reports have been submitted by Formen on shift.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum of College Diploma/Certification required.
  • Journeyman Trade Certification in a related Construction trade.
  • Minimum of 15+ years experience required.
  • Minimum of 10+ years Construction experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Intermediate computer skills: MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, Power Point, Project) Primavera, Prism, Smart Plant Materials, STATStracker, JD Edwards.
  • Periodic visits to the project work site may be required.
